5 activities for rainy days

Sunday, 15 October 2017

As soon as we get to mid-September, the temperature starts cooling down and everyone becomes much more inclined to spend time inside rather than going out. Add rain into the mixture and you'll soon be looking for fun ways to spend a cosy day inside your house.

I'm not gonna lie, I love rainy days for cosy and chill activities with friends and family, and I wanted to share my favourite ones with you today.

5 activities for rainy days

1. Board games

Board games are a great way to spend quality time with your significant other, family or friends without looking at a screen. It doesn't have to be your typical Monopoly disaster either (I've had my fair share of those with my two little brothers) - you can just look up fun games on the internet and find something that suits your taste as well as the number of players you need. My favourites at the moment are Scrawl and Carcassonne - and as you can see from the links, I usually order games from Amazon. ;)

2. Singstar

Singstar used to be very popular when I was about 16, and then the trend kind of died (or did we just get too old for it?). Anyway, I actually still think that it's a fun activity for a rainy evening (and it gets more fun when paired with a bottle of wine). If you're not into singing there's always Guitar Hero and Just Dance to choose from - and the latter actually counts as a workout, too!

3. Cooking or baking

Baking is a typical Christmas-y activity - but actually, it's just as much fun during any other time of the year! And if you're not into cookies, brownies or cake (do those people even exist?), why not try cooking a yummy meal with friends or family? Matt's and my current favourite is anything Japanese (which will come as no surprise to anyone who knows me) - and it would be even more fun if our kitchen was actually big enough for us both to fit in at the same time. 😅

4. Hula Hooping

This is kind of weird, so I feel like I have to explain: In a recent phrase of "I have to get active and loose weight", Matt and I went to a sports store, and while I was looking for sports equipment to use in our tiny apartment, I found a hula hoop. Now, I used to be a huge fan of these when I was five, and remembering how much fun I had with them, I decided to buy it. And guess what, I'm actually still pretty good at it, haha! Matt and I have been used it a quite a bit (yes, he does, too - he actually thinks it's fun!) and it also counts as working out (kind of)! Of course, feel free to rediscover any kind of childhood activity you used to love. ;)

5. DIYs

Rainy days are the perfect time to try some DIYs you saw on Pinterest and always wanted to do, but never got around to actually doing. Whether it's building a shelf, painting your furniture or making vases out of glass bottles (it's very easy by the way), just get all the supplies you need, put on some music and get to work! Not only will you have spend some fun hours, but you'll also have created something at the end of the day!
